This session will review the results of multiple survey studies to further understand clinicians’ attitudes toward SDM as well as their practical use of SDM tools.

This learning lab will teach participants how physicians’ stages of learning impact their ability to change behavior and when these changes are likely to occur, using the viewpoints of both CME professionals and a practicing oncologist.

This session will provide an overview of some trends and realities, with Medical Specialty Societies, Industry, Accrediting bodies and governments, related to the implementation of quality and relevant learning and education interventions, that will impact better clinical delivery and patient care.

Join us for a case study discussion that summarizes an innovative approach to designing, implementing, and evaluating CME/CE activities that effectively leverages and combines several theories of behavior change, including the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change, Diffusion of Innovation, and an approach centered on “Bright Spots” (i.e., replicating behaviors being performed in clinical environments in which success is being achieved).

In this workshop, it will be contended - and participants will be able to argue for or against - that massive online courses are going to disrupt the CME landscape and become an integral component of how continuing medical education is delivered globally in the next five years: While live events and short online offerings would continue, massive online courses are likely going to become a significant component, in terms of the percentage of time that each healthcare professional dedicates to learning.
