Session description: AI can streamline many parts of the learning design process, creating more time and space for the human creativity and storytelling that make learning experiences relevant, memorable, and inspire action. In this session, participants will explore how AI can streamline parts of the learning design process—from early scoping and kickoff through macro design, visual prototyping, and development—creating more time and space for the human work of finding the story, shaping authentic experiences, and making thoughtful creative decisions. Drawing on examples from healthcare education, global health, and leadership development, participants will examine where AI can accelerate learning design, where human judgment and intervention remain essential, and how to use the time gained to create more engaging, relevant, and memorable learning experiences.
Learning objectives: By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Identify ways to use AI to turn project inputs—such as kickoff conversations, source materials, and learner insights—into a focused learning design.
- Use AI as a thought partner to find story-worthy material, explore narrative approaches, and refine ideas for meaningful learning experiences.
- Evaluate how AI-generated drafts, visual concepts, and media can support development, and where human creativity, contextual knowledge, and quality review are needed.
