For continuing education professionals, the practical question about generative AI isn't whether it's impressive — it's what it can actually take off your plate, and how to get results you'd be willing to put your name on.
This three-hour hands-on virtual workshop works through that question from the ground up. We'll start with the everyday tasks AI already handles well — summarizing, rewriting, reformatting — then build toward the more demanding work of drafting case studies, assessment items, and rubrics, with attention throughout to what separates a mediocre result from a usable one. Along the way we'll look at newer capabilities through live demonstration, including agentic tools that can carry out multi-step work on your behalf, so you can see where this is heading without needing to install anything.
You'll also put it to work. In small groups you'll take a real task from your own practice and develop an approach to it using whatever AI platform you already have access to — no specific tool required.
We'll close on the judgment questions: where the ethical lines sit, and how to decide what to hand off and what stays with you.
No prior experience with AI is required, and those already working with it regularly will find new ground. Please plan to arrive with an active account on a generative AI platform of your choosing — a free account is all you need — so you're ready to participate in the hands-on portions.
